Day 13.

Back into the field. Chilly in the morning again. Got onto the street leading to the site and passed two sketchy looking women w/ bleached blond hair, parkas, jeans, and fuzzy boots. Ah, hookers in the mid-west. Not as I'd envisioned them when I wrote my novella in college. They were more functionally dressed rather than fashionably dressed. And really! 745am! How in the hell is that even happening? Banks aren't even opened that early.

Anywhoozle, got paired up with RLD digging my first feature at the main site. Turns out this feature wasn't actually a feature at all but was part of the "artifact rich" layer above what we're actually supposed to be digging in. We found some good stuff, though. And! below what turned out to be a "non-feature" we found a corner and a side for 2 (separate) features about 2 feet below what we thought was the proper surface.

As well, RLD turns out to be a movie buff, which is nice. Share lots of movie favorites and he busts out some Arrested Development on me. I was so excited to hear this that I almost punched him in the face. I'm sure we annoyed the other people on the site, but dammit it was fun.

Oh, and when winds pick up over the course of... 4... 5 football fields (give or take, and that's just the front side of this site) it begins to rip the tarps covering features in trenches on the far side of the site off the ground. It got windy. I got to go help put down tarps. We filled plastic bags with dirt and put them down on said tarps. It was a good time.

But, overall it was just a gorgeous day out. Worked on the tan, practiced mapping (second, and last, feature of the day was a doozy: 2 features butted up next to eachother), even sans music it was a good time. Looking like rain by friday, ah well.
