The 4th Already?

Where does the time go? The month of June sort of snuck away and here's July. Long weekend this weekend. But where to begin. Guess I'll begin this short time off with a nice Hefe and a blog post.

Lots of new people coming in. Just gobs. Dwindling out now, but there for a couple weeks we were training 5-10 at a time. 48 is slowly getting whittled down to 2 major conglomerates of features. When we first opened it up JDK and I were talking and I went ahead and said, "I think it'll take us all summer, well into September." Now, if you ask my wife, I should have known that since I made any assertion of fact that I'd be wrong. Well, I'm getting ready to be. We're not done yet, but it'll be done before the end of September.

Got a 2000 Jeep Cherokee to replace the Saturn as our field vehicle. In general the Saturn has served us well and we didn't have the heart to part with it just yet. It will just get babied in its high mileage and the Jeep will get to take a beating. Plus, I never turn down 4 wheel drive in the Winter.

ELW has returned for the Summer. She taught me everything I know and I'm hoping to pick up some more. Expecting the return of BJS soon as well. He'll only be around a couple weeks, but it'll be nice to see him again.

Company rented a Bobcat mini-excavator through the Winter that JDK, MCT, and I will be operating to open features that go deeper than OSHA allows and to dig the first halves of historic features. We went out to practice with it today. Has been a couple years since I'd run a Bobcat, but after getting used to the controls again it was sort of like getting back on a bike.

Heading to the in-laws on Sunday, going to see my Dad on Saturday. Messing with the Jeep and knapping the rest of the 3 day weekend. Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th.

Lemon out.
